Amy Lowther-Cattley

Associate Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
BSc (Hons), PGDip (Cognitive Therapy)

I qualified as a Social Worker (BSc Hons) in 2011 and I have experience of working with both adults and young people in the field of addiction and the surrounding issues, particularly the impact on mental health. I am registered with both Social Work England and the BABCP, I’m currently working towards being a fully accredited CBT therapist.

I am an associate CBT therapist for Socrates and offer private CBT sessions to those experiencing a range of anxiety disorders and low mood/ depression. I work with those who self-refer and those who are referred by other organizations. As an associate therapist, I access regular supervision to ensure that a high standard of therapy is being delivered and that best practice is being adhered too.  All sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the individual, considering their personal experiences and difficulties, and ensuring that we are working towards their own personal treatment goals.  I have a special interest in working with young people.

In my current NHS role, I work with children and young people as a CBT therapist and senior mental health practitioner in a school based mental health service. I provide assessment, formulation and treatment which is specific to the needs of those presenting with a range of mental health problems, such as panic disorder, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, depression, and OCD among others.

In my previous role as a senior practitioner within a young person’s drug and alcohol service, I supervised trainee Social Work students and worked closely with CAMHS to provide holistic support to young people who were experiencing mental health problems and needed support from specialist mental health services.
