Dr Becky Shaw

Dr Becky Shaw is a qualified Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC). She has worked in the NHS since 2006, within a range of mental health settings including; outpatient departments, acute inpatient wards and the community. She offers therapeutic work for adults, adolescents and families with a range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety disorders and depression. She has a particular interest in working with individuals who present with symptoms of psychological trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

In her current NHS role, Dr Shaw works with working-aged adults in a secondary care mental health setting, at a senior level. She provides assessment, formulation and interventions to individuals presenting with a wide range of complex psychological problems. Her role also involves the provision of supervision and consultation to other mental health professionals within her team.

In her previous role, Dr Shaw worked in an early years setting with children aged 0-5. Hence, she is also passionate about early intervention and supports parents to form positive attachments with their children, helping them to develop positive parenting strategies.

Dr Shaw is an accredited Parent Group Leader and has delivered Incredible Years Webster-Stratton groups to parents of children with behavioural problems. She is also trained in Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) and has achieved phase 1 accreditation in this relationship based approach.

Prior to training as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr Shaw worked within primary care Adult Mental Health services, as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. Her role involved using a CBT approach to treat a range of anxiety disorders and depression, with working aged adults.
