Ellie Pettigrew

Ellie is part of the SMART team at Socrates, which includes assessment and support for autistic young people. She also provides consultation and assessment for schools and public speaking on neurodiversity.

Ellie has worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in a specialist college working with young adults between the ages of 18 – 25 years old, many of whom were autistic. Ellie also has experience working for an independent company that provided therapeutic input for people who had experienced a brain injury. Many of Ellie’s clients had cerebral palsy and complex communication access needs. She also provided input into several special educational settings during this time.

Ellie is passionate about spreading awareness and supporting people's knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity. She was the neurodiversity support team lead and supported the team in developing their knowledge around neurodiversity and neurodiversity-affirming practice.

She works from a neuro-affirming and trauma-centered approach, which recognises an individual’s strengths. Ellie supports clients to unmask using neurodivergent communication and play styles, which lower anxiety and improve accessibility to support.
