Dr. Jennifer Deakin

Dr. Deakin is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). She qualified in 2007 and although she has worked with people across the lifespan, her main expertise is working with adolescents, adults and older adults, including individuals with a learning disability and/or autism spectrum condition. Dr. Deakin has trained in the use of cognitive assessments such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV), Wechsler Memory Scale (WMS-IV); executive functions assessments such as the Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System (DKEFS); autism assessments such as the DISCO, ADI-R and ADOS; as well as a range of other psychometric assessments. She is experienced in the administration, scoring, interpretation and reporting of the above.

Dr. Deakin is experienced in working with individuals, couples, families/carers, systems and teams. She has worked with many presentations including anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, self-esteem, body image, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, sexual difficulties, relationships, attachment and behavioural difficulties. Her work is informed by a variety of models including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), mindfulness, working with systems around the individual, behaviour therapy. Modes of working are dependent on the presentation and individual difficulties of the client.

Dr. Deakin has worked in part-time private practice since 2008, accepting referrals from rehabilitation and medico-legal companies, solicitors, insurance companies and from individuals themselves. Timely detailed assessments are carried out and reports produced, with person-centred interventions tailored to the individual.

In addition, Dr. Deakin has experience in providing supervision to assistants, trainees and qualified psychologists, as well to other health professionals. She has provided training to care homes, teams and to trainee clinical psychologists on the Trent doctoral course. She is a reviewer for the Journal of Health Psychology and sits on several healthcare panels.
