Dr Heidi Mason is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. She has many years’ experience in the assessment and treatment of children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This includes several years as a clinical lead for children and young people with learning disabilities.    In addition to her private work, she has a position as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in a multidisciplinary CAMHS team in the NHS. 

Dr Mason undertakes specific assessments and therapeutic work with children and young people with learning disabilities who present with a range of difficulties, for example feeding and eating problems, anxiety, depression, behavioural and attachment difficulties.

Dr Mason has developed clinical expertise in providing assessment and therapeutic work for children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC), and is a member of the multidisciplinary ASC team at Socrates. She draws on a number of therapeutic models and theories to meet the individual needs of her clients including developmental, attachment, social learning and systemic. She utilises approaches such as the Parent-Child Game in relation to complex behavioural and attachment difficulties and has extensive experience of working with parents and carers in individual and group settings.

Dr Mason has undertaken post qualification training in Webster Stratton and Parent Child Game, and is a qualified Sleep Counsellor. Dr Mason is trained in the use of the ADOS 2. Dr Mason has developed and delivered post diagnosis workshops for parents and carers whose child has a diagnosis of Autism.

Dr Mason provides training and consultation in addition to clinical supervision, to other clinical psychologists, health-care and associated clinicians and practitioners. She is also involved in undertaking careers talks and workshops for pupils interested in a career as a Clinical Psychologist.
