Assessment and Therapy

Alongside family intervention, Dr Gorman also offers individual appointments, working with young people and adults who present with a range of psychological difficulties and distress, such as anxiety, low mood, trauma and anger.  She adopts an integrative approach and draws on psychological models and theories such as systemic, behavioural, CBT, attachment theory, and solution focussed approaches. Dr Gorman has significant experience in systemic and attachment based interventions around understanding and managing relationships where there has been communication breakdown, conflicted relationships or separation. She is also trained in the Incredible Years group programme and the Parent Child Game, specifically aiming to enhance relationships, and decrease problematic behaviour.

Legal Work

Dr Gorman provides assessment and reports for legal purposes around care proceedings and for personal injury claims. Particular areas of interest include psychological assessment of relationships within the family, psychological wellbeing of children and young people, and parenting capacity. She also has experience of neuropsychological assessment in both adult and child populations. In forensic settings, she has contributed towards multi-disciplinary assessment of risk and offending behaviour.

Consultation

Dr Gorman provides clinical supervision to clinical psychologists and other professionals.
